We’ve probably said this before – the Dames are all about hard-hitting journalism…but we also enjoy indulging in some thirst. Thirty-five years ago this week, Chris Hemsworth was born and the world became a bit brighter. In honor of our favorite Asgardian’s birthday, the Dames looked at our top 5 favorite movie moments that left us saying, “Damn you, Hemsworth!”

Kristen’s 5

Okay, so of the 22 films Chris Hemsworth has made (that are out for public consumption), I’ve seen 17. That’s over half so if there’s a “Chris Hemsworth expert” stamp I can put on my resume, give it to me. The movies here are very me and very Hemsworth. Bonus points if I can get through this entire top 5 without accidentally calling him Christ Hemsworth – I blame wanting to spell “Christmas” on this but maybe it is just a Freudian sign that he’s Jesus.

Honorable Mention: Hemsworth’s loafers with no socks and fedora in Ghostbusters. I know the other Dames included Ghostbusters moments, but I didn’t have ones of overt thirst, just mere adorableness. But, seriously, the hat he wears is amazing!

Like everyone said, Bad Times at the El Royale

Lauren and Kim had this already so I’m gonna keep it going and throw it on my list. Two years ago, Oscar Isaac killed me with his dancing in Ex Machina; last year it was Armie Hammer jumping like a goon in Call Me By Your Name; in 2018, I’m gonna pass out at whatever we want to call Hemsworth’s Nomi Malone-esque dancing in this trailer. If he wants to play a Manson-esque cult leader just call me Patricia Krenwinkle!

Hemsworth’s one moment of humor in Cabin in the Woods (2012)

Okay, so I mentioned wanting to avoid moments of cuteness on this list, but I have to take a slight umbrage with Lauren thinking it’s only been recently that Hemsworth’s been funny. I remember being gobsmacked seeing him be humorous all the way back in 2012. The first introduction to his character is him and his girlfriend reenacting the 1987 Partnership for a Drug-Free America campaign. It’s a brief moment but it never fails to make me laugh, and proved that he was all about sending up his image.

Pretty much everything in Rush (2013)

Never doubt my commitment to Chris Hemsworth because I went opening day to see this movie. Actually, Rush isn’t a bad movie. It’s a very bro-tastic story about  two dickish white guys racing cars, but Hemsworth so leaned into the presumed persona that he was an asshole. And for the entirety of this movie I’m totally into it. The man’s naked, banging chicks left and right, dropping certain words that would normally cause me to recoil but I don’t care. And he rocks ’70s bellbottoms like a boss!

Those two scenes in Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Okay, so I’ve never actually seen this movie all the way through. I get about halfway and then move on with my life. It’s boring and dour as hell, BUT it has two moments early on that are worth watching. (And because the movie is so boring I literally don’t remember which scene comes first.) One is in the video above where Hemsworth goes full Brad Pitt-in-Troy and just decides to wash himself without a shirt on. Why? I’d like to think the screenwriter wrote “who the hell cares?” The other scene is when Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster is being examined and looks over at him because she’s so excited about the tech. Hemsworth gives her a smile that just melts my soul. And then other shit happens in the movie and I don’t care.

That…..moment in Vacation (2015)

I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who saw the Vacation remake. Not on opening day, just in general. I actually don’t hate this movie, maybe because I’ve only ever seen two of the original Vacation movies. I’m the girl who loves Vegas Vacation, so that should say a lot. The point is Hemsworth plays a Texas anchorman who’s….blessed. I’m sorry, I blacked out watching the clip again.

Karen’s 5

Everyone already used the clips I would have used, pretty much. So I’m just going to list mine and tell you to go watch their videos.

Chris Hemsworth Ghostbusters Pics

“Which one makes me look more like a doctor?” Ghostbusters (2016)

I will always love him in Ghostbusters. And I will always love Paul Feig for giving us Chris Hemsworth’s Kevin. Still waiting for that sequel, good sir!

The Huntsman is betrayed, Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

Okay, maybe I have one or two alternates to my co-dames’ lists. This movie isn’t that great, but Hemsworth is looking mighty fine in that dirty, rugged, out for revenge sort of way. In this scene, he gets to fight in the dark and scary woods and look good doing it.

This interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2018)

I mean, the man is a gifted performer in comedy, action, etc. But the real life Chris Hemsworth is just as beautiful and maybe actually even more dreamy. As we see in this interview on Kimmel, where he talks about everything from where he keeps Thor’s hammer to talking about his kids. Marry me!

Chris Hemsworth’s Instagram

He’s great in interviews, but have you seen his insta? Wowza. If you didn’t already love the best Hemsworth, you will after perusing his Instagram. Talk about being real and dreamy and perfect. His wife is a lucky, lucky lady. Damn it.

The haircut scene, Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Okay, honestly, the best part of this scene is the way he looks after. But even with those long, flowing locks, Thor is just so beautiful. And watching him go from tough guy threats to begging on behalf of his mane, Hemsworth is hilarious and adorable and brutally hot all within the 44 seconds of this clip.

The “Get Ghost” Dance in Ghostbusters (2016)

Melissa McCarthy actually got mad that Chris Hemsworth is so goddamn talented and attractive and nice (it’s a problem, we know). Ghostbusters was the first time that Hemsworth really was allowed to be funny, and the fact that he can hold his own in a cast of such remarkable comediennes is pretty great. But my favorite part is the ending, when the possessed Kevin does an extended dance to the tune of “Get Ghost,” by Mark Ronson. I mean…he can dance too?! That bastard.

That Shirtless Scene in Thor (2011)

Yeah, it’s not the best character introduction in the Avengers franchise, and yeah, they did make the highly questionable decision to dye a very blond man even blonder, but Thor does have its points. Just as we were all Peggy Carter when they reveal new, souped-up Steve, we were all Jane Foster (and Darcy) in that scene when Thor struts around shirtless. *sigh*

All of Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

I do like it when painfully attractive men are also really sweet, but it took three films and a director with an absurd sense of humor to realize that Thor can actually be funny. And as a result, Thor became about fifty times sexier, which is probably illegal in some states. How dare he?

The first half of In The Heart of the Sea (2015)

Chris Hemsworth is a dashing sailor who spends most of his time looking moody while the wind ripples his golden locks. This movie made me want a remake of Captain Blood.

Whatever is going on in Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)

Girls don’t want boys; girls want Chris Hemsworth leading a sex cult.

Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)

I’m still not sure what is going on here, but whatever it is… I need it. In fact, I needed it yesterday.

All of Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Above and beyond, my favourite Thor movie. My tastes are notoriously clean cut and this is the first time we get a short-haired God of Thunder. As soon as Stan Lee chopped off those golden locks, I was in love. And I think the eye patch makes it even sexier.

His one scene in Star Trek (2009)

Chris Hemsworth had a “blink and you’ll miss it” appearance in the most recent Star Trek reboot. Hemsworth appears as the father of legendary star fleet captain (and all-around cool dude) James T. Kirk. While I’ve had very few Star Trek crushes, this is definitely one.

Ghostbusters (2016)

Glasses. Tie. Vest. Enough said. What can I say? I have a brand.

Team Thor (2016)

Okay, I’m cheating a bit. It was either this or Cabin in the Woods. If you haven’t see the above Marvel short, make sure you check it out. This delightfulness rolled out before any of us truly discovered Chris Hemsworth’s true comedic chops. After seeing this, Thor: Ragnarok should come as no shock.
